The Human Touch: Selections from the RBC Wealth Management Art Collection

The Human Touch exhibition is a collection of works that focus on the human figure. This exhibition introduces new ways of thinking about who we are and how we live. Many well-known artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Viola Frey, Chuck Close, Jim Dine, and Roland Fischer are included.

On Saturday, May 23,2009, beginning at 10:00am, the museum will begin Art Saturdays, special art days at the museum just for families. The first workshop will be Parent/Child Drawing. Following a docent-led tour of The Human Touch exhibition, families will be treated to a short drawing lesson, including modern drawing techniques. Self-created masterpieces are free and can be taken home.

7:00 PM

Nancy Stewart and MaryLee Sunseri return to the museum with an all new storytelling and song program called Wonders of Light, designed to help students learn about natural and artificial light.

From starlight to sunlight, candelight to neon, light is part of our everyday lives. Students will learn about the role light has played in the history of Yakima, including agriculture and urban development, and how light can be used in the future in energy conservation and new technologies. Nancy and MaryLee will present both traditional songs and many which were written specifically for this venue.

Children and their families are invited to a free special public performance on Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M.
