AIA Elevates Two Local Architects into Jury of Fellows
 
Congratulations to Mac Ball and Ray Manning for being inducted into the prestigious AIA College of Fellows. With over 80.000 AIA members, there are fewer than 2,700 members distinguished with this honor. The Fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession.

The 2011 Fellows will be honored at an investiture ceremony at the 2011 National AIA Convention and Design Exposition in New Orleans on May 13, 2011.  

AIA National Photography Competition


The National Photography Competition deadline is March 1, 2011 (the postmark deadline). the fourteen top award winning images will be on display at the 2011 convention in New Orleans and will be used (with an additional 38 images) to produce the 2013 engagement calendar published by Universe. Each entrant whose image is selected for the calendar receives a complimentary copy.

Passive Houses Aggressively Reduce Energy

The passive house movement is starting to catch on in the United States as consumers look to lower their utility bills. These homes don't require pricey solar panels or wind turbines but focus on old-fashioned building science to reduce energy use by up to 90% less energy.

Led by President-Elect Mark Stiepler, AIA the elected leaders of AIA Louisiana met on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. with the Louisiana Congressional delegation and staff for AIA's Grassroots 2011 from February. 2-5,2011.
