Dear Roaming Husky

"I have to leave town for the summer because I have a co-op in California. My lease isn't over until September, so I want to sublet my apartment while I'm not here. Can I do that?"
- Hired Husky
Dear Hired,
If you signed a standard rental agreement, you cannot sublet without the permission of your landlord. If your landlord agrees, make sure that you, your landlord, and the sublessee sign a sublet agreement that has terms and conditions stated clearly. You can list your open sublet on our off campus housing online website HERE.
Good luck,

From Superintendent Evans, Boston Police Department:
College students comprise a significant percentage of the population in Boston and your safety is our priority. We remind you to be a respectful neighbor and resident, and don't be a victim of crime.
- Off campus apartments are attractive for entertaining large groups and late night parties, particularly in Allston/Brighton, Mission Hill, and the Fenway. You have the right to socialize within the confines of the law, but your neighbors have the right to live in a peaceful and quiet environment.
- What should you do if the police get called to your residence? The best advice is the most simple: behave in a respectful manner; do what is asked of you, answer questions accordingly and keep your conversation pleasant. Simply cooperate so the encounter does not escalate.
- Don't fall victim to robbery. Remove your ear buds while walking, and don't talk on your cell phone. If you're approached, comply with the perpetrator's demands and don't resist. Your safety is worth more than any item you have to turn over.
- Red Sox Opening Day (April 4) and the Boston Marathon (April 19) are almost here! Remember your behavior sets the tone for an enjoyable event, and also sets an example for the collective student body of Boston.
Have a safe spring semester!

STUDY TIPS!
The semester is coming to an end, which means finals, projects, and papers are just around the corner! Here are a couple of tips to help you get through this chaotic leg of the term!
1. GO TO CLASS! It may sound silly, but it is the key to success. You'll know the exact materials being covered, and also determine areas you may need to work on.
2. Read your notes before and after class. A review before class helps you raise questions you have for the professor. A review after class reinforces what you just learned.
3. Use different colors when taking notes! It can help you focus on the main points and definitions.
4. Make a study guide. Write down a list of key words or questions and leave room underneath each one. Then, pretend you are taking the test and write down as much as you know.
5. Make flash cards! Review them during your daily commute to learn a little each day. You'd be surprised what you can cover on the way to campus! |
Springtime calls for spring cleaning! Cleaning your apartment is now greener and easier than ever with the help of the city! The city of Boston offers a free curbside recycling program for all residents. Items that can be recycled are newspapers, glass, metal, plastic, cardboard, and aerosol cans. Find out about the recycling schedule in your neighborhood by calling the Public Works Department at (617)635-4959! |
