Resolution # 1: Get Involved on Campus |
The John A. and Marcia E. Curry Student Center is the Crossroads for community life at Northeastern University, serving all members of the University in a celebration of diversity and student life. The Student Center serves as the "living room" of the NU campus....a place where students, faculty and staff can feel at home, a place where you can get involved in the life of the University through programs, activities and leadership.
Northeastern supports more than 200 student groups. The SGA, CUP, student media, NUBiLAGA, and others have their own offices, while many groups are housed in student suites. Check them out using the student organization link at www.neu.edu/curry

Resolution # 2: Be Safe |
Recently, there have been several cases of college students being robbed and assaulted while walking near the campus. Here are some important reminders to help you stay safe. - When walking around the campus or in the city, especially after dark, stay in well lighted areas avoiding shortcuts through the alleys. - Practice safety in numbers by using heavily traveled routes. - Carry valuables like iPods and cell phones close to your body or in an inside pocket. - Keep shopping bags and purses closed and held tightly. - Don't display large amounts of cash at a cash register. - Be discreet at ATM machines - be aware of those around you as you leave the ATM. - Don't accept rides from unmarked vehicles claiming to be taxicabs. All taxis in Boston must be clearly marked and display a City of Boston Taxi medallion on the rear trunk lid. - Lock your apartment windows when you leave - use timers to leave lights or radios on when you are away. - Program your cell phone for speed dialing 911 and the NU emergency number: (617-373-3333). - Use the NU Safety Escort Service or shuttle to your off-campus apartment. |

Snow Situations! |
Your Landlord is responsible for removing or making safe any and all snow and ice on sidewalks, entryways, and all exit areas from the building. He is responsible for clearing the walkway and stairs even if he does not live in the building. These paths must be cleared or made safe within three hours of the end of the snowfall between dawn and dusk. There is no such requirement for clearing driveways.
