NU Service Day- October 25th
NU Pride Week- As Northeastern continues its quest to become a national and international leader in diversity and inclusion, we are very excited to announce Northeastern's second annual Pride Week, focusing on National Coming Out Day (NCOD) and celebrating the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community and their Allies. NCOD events are aimed at raising awareness of the community among the general population in an effort to build equality for all. The Department of Residential Life in conjunction with the Vice President for Student Affairs office, NUBiLAGA (a student organization at Northeastern for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Questioning and Straight students) The African American Institute, the Asian American Center, and the Resident Student Association are bringing you Northeastern's Pride Week. All involved have worked hard to build a safe, open, and close community on the Northeastern campus. We strive to connect students to groups, organizations, and events that will enhance their college experience.

Featured Office of the Month: O.P.E.N. |
The Office of Prevention and Education at Northeastern, or O.P.E.N. is a new office on campus, ready to serve students! As part of Northeasterns ongoing efforts to improve the quality of services, Student Affairs is pleased to introduce this office, to provide knowledge on drugs and alcohol. Located in 307 Ell Hall, O.P.E.N. was created to inform Northeastern students about the dangers of alcohol abuse, and how to learn your limits. They are aware that this is a college campus, and students will drink, regardless of what people tell them, so O.P.E.N. is here to take the approach of a mentor. They are not here to preach abstinence, but rather, to keep students from abusing alcohol and drugs. If you are ever curious about alcohol and drug use, or think you may have a problem with alcohol or drugs, stop into their office, and you can have an informal sit down with one of the staff and they'll inform you about what's "normal" regarding these issues! Everything is confidential and safe. They are NOT however, a counseling service. They are merely here to inform and promote safe practices of alcohol and drug use.
O.P.E.N. provides the following services:
-Alcohol and drug "check ups" with staff -Confidential and non judgmental approach -Personalized feedback -NOT a counseling office -Information and resources about alcohol and drugs -Campus programming and outreach
O.P.E.N. is located in 307 Ell Hall

Security Deposits- Have You Received Yours?! |
A security deposit is a form of protection for the landlord, should the tenant cause damage to the property, or leave owing rent. A security deposit may only be used for three things:
- Unpaid rent
- The repair of damages caused by the tenant (this does not include general wear and tear)
- They payment of the tenant's percentage of a property tax increase (provided that there was a tax escalator clause in the lease)
A Landlord has until 30 days AFTER the end of the tenancy to return the entire security deposit and its required interest (if the tenancy has been over a year). If any deductions are made, the Landlord must return the balance along with a statement that includes an itemized listing of the deductions with supporting documentation and receipts.
Make sure you get yours!
You can always contact our office (617-373-8480) with any questions/concerns!
