A Note to Off Campus Students |
Greetings! We hope you've had an excellent summer and are ready to begin a new academic year at Northeastern! As you get settled into your new apartment, be aware of the following reminders and resources provided by the City of Boston:
- For problems such as landlord conflicts, condition of your leased apartment, safety or trash concerns:the Mayors 24 Hours Hotline is available to accept requests and complaints at 617-635-4500. There is also an Internet form in lieu of calling.
- Remember...you are living OFF campus. Your neighbors are members of the community who may not be thrilled to be surrounded by college students. Be respectful. Keep the noise level to a minimum when you have guests over. If you have a complaint about noise or anything else, inform your landlord.
- After move in, you are responsible for your trash and refuse to dispose of! You can find the City of Boston's Residential Trash and Recycling Schedule here.
- Another thing to keep in mind is "The City of Boston's Rental Unit Delivery Standards Checklist" which is a checklist of requirements for your new rental. This list can be found here.

Featured Office of the Month: Campus Center on Violence Against Women |
Northeastern University's Campus Center on Violence Against Women is an on-campus program designed to use nationally recognized best practices to prevent and respond to dating abuse or violence, sexual violence, and stalking. Students who want information, support, and referral related to these crimes can call the Center at (617) 373-7714 or drop by 007 Nightingale Hall for confidential assistance from staff, either for themselves or for someone close to them. Student trainers are available to provide state-of-the-art violence prevention programming. The program is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. Three student organizations have grown out of the program-
(1)Awareness Brings Change: a student organization that seeks to promote greater awareness of interpersonal violence issues through presenting special campus events;
(2) Acting Out: an interactive educational theater group; and
(3)Men Defying Expectations: a program for men who have decided to be leaders in ending violence. Students who are interested in joining the student groups, wish to volunteer as trainers, want to inquire about work study positions, who would like to do internships or service-learning projects, are encouraged to check out our Facebook group, email us at neuccvaw@gmail.com, or just drop by our office in 007 Nightingale Hall.
