WARNING:
E-Greetings May Contain More Than Holiday Cheer!
card
The Holiday Season is a time to send greeting and warm wishes. However, use extreme caution when opening E-greetings. Many contain viruses and spyware. If you were not expecting an E-greeting than simply delete the email, even if it is from someone you know. As always, it is better safe than sorry when it comes to emails.

"Welcome to Networks Plus, the premier IT support company in the greater Philadelphia area."

These are the opening words of our new Web Presenter, the latest addition to NetworksPlusco.com. If you have ever visited a website that was so busy that you were not sure where to begin, then a web presenter is an idea whose time is long overdue. In less than a minute, a web presenter can express the company mission statement, lay out the home page for the visitor and direct attention to key areas on the page, such as the store or contact page.

Also featured on our website is a holiday theme. Introducing holiday themes to your web design has two effects. The first is increased appeal to visitors. The holiday theme provides a temporal feeling that the site is new even if most of the content is unchanged. Secondly, it improves SEO, as this type of change on the home page improves search engine ranking. And because holiday themes are generally reusable from year to year, they can be a cost effective way to freshen your site without a complete redesign.

Thanks to Jason and Dave the small N logoWebmasters.

So if you are ready to take a fresh approach to your web site, consider a web presenter and a holiday theme, and remember when it comes to web design:

"Experience....the Networks Plus difference."

LEARN TO SPEAK GEEK
Cracking the Geek Speak, by April Stavely

Do you ever wonder where technical terms such as " Bluetooth" and "Computer bug" come from? The explanations can be enlightening, or bizarre. Here are some examples:

BLUETOOTH:   Bluetooth is named after a tenth-century king of Denmark and Norway named Harald Bluetooth. He is remembered for his unification of previously warring tribes in the areas he ruled. Likewise, Bluetooth technology is intended to unify different technologies like PCs and mobile phones. The bluetooth logo is a rememberance of the bluetoothunifying king. It merges the latin letters H and B, for Harald Bluetooth.

COMPUTER BUG
: This term stems from a problem with a literal bug. In 1945, the early days of computer technology, engineers at the Harvard Computation Laboratory traced an error on the Mark II computer back to a moth trapped in a relay. The moth was carefully extracted, but the idea that a bug could reak havoc in a computer was not forgotten.

SPAM: This term is derived from the Monty Python SPAM sketch, set in a cafe where everything on the menu includes SPAM luncheon meat. While a customer plaintively asks for some kind of food without SPAM in it, the server reiterates the SPAM-filled menu. Soon, a chorus of Vikings join in with a song: "SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, lovely SPAM, wonderful SPAM", over and over again, drowning out all conversation in the same way Spam emails can drown out the regular mail in your inbox.
