Greetings!
 As you apply the last of your sunscreen, swim your final laps, and in the case of this summer, retire your umbrella, we at Rousseau's Fine Furniture and Design are beginning to think about winter holidays. Why, you ask? The reality is that to create the perfect holiday home, preparations begin in September. There are many misconceptions regarding the design process and custom furniture. So, for the benefit of those planning to inspire envy in their family and friends whilst consuming vast quantities of eggnog, the following is an example of a winter holiday design timeline:
On September 1st, you hire a qualified Rousseau's Interior Designer to come to your home. You discuss your objectives, inspiration and indulge them while they take a plethora of measurements.
Two weeks later, you breeze into Rousseau's well-rested and worry-free to meet with your designer; who has spent the same two weeks agonizing over every detail. Together, you marvel at the floor plans, furniture, drapery and colour options that your gifted designer has assembled for you.
Collaboration continues as you borrow samples, review upholstery, accent tables and accessories until you feel comfortable with the design. Once you are completely confident and contemplating eloping with your new sofa, we order your furniture/fabric/wallpaper/window coverings etc.
Depending on the supplier and where they are located, your new favourite decor items can take 8-12 weeks to arrive. It may seem a long time, but when you consider that many of our manufacturers still build and upholster by hand and ship throughout North America, it's actually pretty impressive.
Sometime between December 1st and 20th, your fabulous package arrives! Our delivery team sets up everything in your freshly painted rooms and you spend the holidays graciously accepting compliments on your stunning home.

Harden Home Studio
 After almost 80 years, Rousseau's Fine Furniture and Interior Design has seen its share of trends. We remember when fringe was fabulous the first time. We've spent years studying French Provence and the prevalence of purple is not as startling to us as it is to the inexperienced eye. Despite our many years of home decor experience, there is a recent trend that Rousseau's Interior Designers are very excited about. The Green trend continues to gain support from consumers and manufacturers alike. While some younger companies elevate their environmental conscious to the status of a gimmick, quality furniture manufacturers have been quietly Green for many years. North American companies like Harden manage their own forests, log the wood and use the waste to heat the factory. By keeping their operation domestic, they bypass the need to transport from overseas, and by crafting a quality product, they guarantee their merchandise will be passed down rather than discarded.
