Georgia passes nation's first embryo adoption bill
On April 3, the Georgia state House approved House Bill 388: The Option of Adoption Act. This bill, once signed into law by the Governor, will give couples adopting embryos the same legal rights and protections as a couple in a traditional adoption.
The main goal of this bill is to protect families who have adopted embryos from any challenges to their rights as parents of the children once they are born. It is the first bill of its kind in the United States.
Now the question is whether other states will follow Georgia's lead. The state of Tennessee is currently developing a similar bill.
