Dear Adoption Professional;

As adoption agencies, we share a commitment to provide families with the most comprehensive information possible on their options for family building.  Although most agencies do not get involved in infertility counseling, it is important to make sure that a prospective adopting family has come to a resolution regarding their infertility issues - if any issues exist.

Families choose domestic infant adoption, international adoption or the adoption of children through fost-adopt programs for a variety of reasons.  One of our responsibilities is to make sure they are aware of all possible options and have accurate information as to the risks, costs and timeframes for adopting.

Embryo donation and adoption has been available for many years, but the number of families unaware of this option is still high.  Under a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services we have developed a series of videos intended to educate prospective donating families and adopting families.

We are asking you to make your families aware of this option and help them access services which can assist them.

Many of the embryo donation and adoption programs require their adopting families to complete a home study to prepare them as adopting parents.  Most of the issues dealt with in domestic adoption are very common to the embryo adoption experience.

Whether you are involved as the home study agency which ultimately refers your family to a clinic or embryo adoption program, or seek to develop your own program in conjunction with a local fertility clinic, we think you will find these videos educational

Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) is being used with increasing frequency.  As adoption experts you will be asked to help resolve issues raised by parents who have used ART for family building.

Please let us know what other forms of assistance we can provide.  If this is an area you are interested in, be sure your agency is listed on the EmbryoAdoption.org web site.

Best Regards,

Kimberly Tyson
