Speakers:
Rick Dickinson, CEO and President, of the Greater Dubuque Development Corp., will talk about how Dubuque positioned itself to draw IBM to the community.

 

Lily French, Director of Field Education and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa School of Social Work, will talk about what happens if we don't equip people with the skills needed by local industries.

 

Kim Johnson, Vice President of Continuing Education and Training Services at Kirkwood Community College, will talk about the types of strategies that are being implemented and developed.

United Way Donor Wins Smulekoff's Furniture

 

 

United Way is excited to announce that we are able to give prizes again this year to acknowledge donors to our annual campaign.

 

Dennis Kelly, with Smulekoff's, and Jake Zoss, with Cargill.

Jake Zoss, a Cargill employee, was the first winner. He won a Peaceful Dreams Beautyrest Black Mattress set valued at $2,700. Smulekoff's donated the prize.

One winner will be drawn each month September through November 2012 and surprised on camera with the prize.  All donors are automatically entered in the drawing. For more on the prizes go here.

34 People Added to 2012 Leadership Directory

Since Sept. 28, another 34 leadership givers have added their names to this year's leadership directory.

 

Eighteen are members of the  Sinclair Society, meaning they pledged at least $1,250. Sixteen are members of the Quarton Society, meaning they give between $500 and $1,249. One of those is also a member of the  Women's Leadership Initiative and one is a Young Leader. Thank you for your support!

Make a Difference Day is just around the corner and thousands of projects will take place across the nation involving companies, nonprofit organizations and individuals interested in volunteering. 


Join the movement on October 27, 2012, and volunteer to make a difference in our community! There may also be some projects on Friday, October 26th.
