United Way of East Central Iowa is trying to raise more than $10 million for the sixth year in a row.
The $10 million-plus helps around 100,000 people in our six-county region, which includes Linn, Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Jones and Washington counties, and helps us move toward our five goals that aim to improve the community.
"This is the first year that we are not announcing an exact dollar amount as a goal," says United Way CEO and President Lois Buntz. "We clearly can't help our community without raising millions of dollars. But instead of focusing on an exact dollar figure this year we want to focus on the impact. How many people can we help together? The more money we raise the more people we can help."
We believe that when we all work together and pool our resources we can do the most good in our community!
In addition, we will seek to recruit 25 new companies, and 3,500 new donors. Of course, we are trying to raise as much or more than last year's $10.58 million.
Our community partners and the thousands of families they serve depend on the generosity of the Eastern Iowa community. When there are people in need this community responds.
Until next month,
Your United Way Team
