| Nominations Wanted for Community Philanthropist Award
United Way of East Central Iowa is seeking nominations for the new Community Philanthropist Award, in honor of Scotty McIntyre. This award is designed to honor and recognize an individual or couple who have spent their lifetime sharing their time, talents, and treasures to United Way and other nonprofit organizations. They have a proven record of exceptional generosity and have demonstrated outstanding civic and charitable responsibility.

| Foundation 2 Celebrates
40th Anniversary
Foundation 2 turns 40 on July 6, 2010. In celebration of 40 years as part of the Cedar Rapids community, Foundation 2 is hosting an exhibit which highlights their history of service. "40 Stories for 40 Years" will be on display at the Carl & Mary Koehler History Center, 615 1st Avenue SE, through Sunday, August 8. Look at interviews, photos and video of 40 individuals who have been involved with the agency since 1970, including Lois Buntz, Craig Wood, Lu Barron and Scott Jamieson. New Staff Person Joins United Way Team
Although she has been with us for nearly three months, Jackie King officially joins the United Way team as our Receptionist. She comes to United Way from Westside Transport and looks forward to working with people in her new role. "I really enjoy the atmosphere and energy here at United Way," says Jackie. Pacesetter Youth Camp is a four-day camp for youth, grades 6th-8th, that provides awareness of needs in our community and helps develop tomorrow's leaders! This year's camp will be held July 26-29. Read More |

United Way's Young Leaders Society members and their immediate families are invited to attend the 3rd annual Family Night at the Ballpark on Thursday, August 12 at the CR Kernels Stadium. Gates open at 5:30 pm and admission, food and drinks are free to YLS members and their immediate families! Seating is limited.
