Open House for Catechesis (Sunday School for ages 3-10/11)

I am here to tell you that Catechesis of the Good Shepherd fits into the category of, "It's Not My Grandmother's Sunday School." Yes, I do hear that from time to time. My answer is, "Thank God!"   Some of the questions I get asked the most are:

Why are they not memorizing bible verses?

Can you tell me why they do not know the story of 'so and so'? I knew most of the Old Testament by the time I was 12. How come my kids do not?

It looks to me like they are just playing.

Have you ever had any of those thoughts? Wonder what Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is and how it is different from a lot of other Sunday school programs?

Come to the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Open House on Sunday, September 30th at 9:35AM. Come and meet the Catechists for each Level (age group). Come and hear how each week the children of Grace explore the relationship that they already have with God through our ancient biblical stories as well as our ancient sacraments. Come and help your child see the space they will be in and the leaders that will be in their room.

Peace,

Shawn

Furnace Update

The Vestry has voted to select a steel steam boiler to be installed this fall.

Requests for proposal (bids) to at least three contractors will be sent this week. This boiler will serve the whole building. If you have specific questions about the furnace project, please ask any Vestry member, the wardens, Shawn or me. All were present at the most recent Vestry meeting.

Benefit for Bishop Anderson House

This fall, Bishop Anderson House is presenting a bold new benefit with the goal of bringing 100 new faces to the table, introducing supporters to the ministry of compassion and care that is the hallmark of Bishop Anderson House.

We hope you will support BAH at "A Spirited Adventure," on Thursday, October 11, 2012. The Skyline Room at Kendall College will be the setting for wine and food tastings, fun and games, and even the opportunity to create your own culinary creation.

Perhaps you can gather a group to participate in the popular "six-pack ticket;" if you purchase 5 tickets, the 6th is free! Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.
