Dear friends,
Please join me as I welcome spring! I love the change of seasons, particularly the shift from winter to spring. For me, it signals new beginnings, rebirth, and growth, not only in nature but in my life. It also reminds me of the inherent intelligence and power of the universe, which knows, without question, how to inspire dormant seeds to grow or sleeping trees to bud. This intelligence and power also reside within us, and spring is a wonderful time to reconnect with the part of ourselves that knows, without question, how to make the dormant seeds in our lives grow. This month, inspired by the season, I share my thoughts on this inner intelligence that we have--our intuition.
With gratitude, Kellie

Listening to Your Intuition
I believe that one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves is to connect with and trust the internal compass that steers us in the direction of our truth. I call this internal compass our inner intelligence or our intuition.
Every day, we make hundreds of decisions that move us toward or away from the vision we have for our lives. Some of these decisions may seem simple and often occur without much thought; for example, I decided to get up for work and wash my face today. Other decisions require more effort and aren't so easily navigated. Do I give two weeks' notice at work and start that business I've always wanted to create? Do I call the doctor when I notice a suspicious spot on my freshly washed face?
We spend so much of our lives learning how to think through problems and answer complex questions so that we can make these difficult decisions in a logical, well-thought-out manner. To be sure, harnessing the power of our thinking minds can be invaluable in living in alignment with our true selves (it's part of what I do as a coach!). But often, this emphasis on the thinking mind overshadows and even silences the other important aspects of our being that can contribute to our journey...our physical bodies, our feeling minds, and our spirits. Each of these may provide us with valuable information, which can lead us to action more readily and accurately than can our cloudy or overwhelmed thinking minds.
When you consider alternative paths, the ache in the pit of your stomach or the butterflies that invade your center may be your inner intelligence whispering (or screaming) to you, leading you toward your truth. That inexplicable "feeling" of uneasiness about something or "sense" of connection with someone may be your inner intelligence compelling you to take some kind of action.
The challenge for many of us is in trusting these sometimes unfamiliar or previously ignored sources of information. We so often invalidate our intuition. But what might happen if you stopped ignoring and started to pay attention? What insight might you gain or action might you take if you listen to all of the parts of yourself that are trying to speak up?
In an effort to connect with our inner intelligence and to help the dormant seeds in our lives grow, I invite you to experiment with your intuition this month. Some things to consider:
1) Remember, we are all unique, so there is no right or wrong way to access your intuition. You will discover what works for you over time.
2) As with anything, it takes practice. The more you practice, the more you'll trust your intuition!
3) Revisit my February article, "The Power of Getting Quiet." Getting quiet enhances your ability to hear what your body, feelings, or spirit have to say.
4) Practice:
o Close your eyes and envision a chosen path. Actually see yourself having made the decision or taken an action, or even state out loud the decision.
o Notice how this feels in your body. Do you feel tension in your back? Does your stomach ache? Does your head pound? Or perhaps you feel lighter, like a weight is lifted from your shoulders? Maybe there are tears in your eyes.
o If your body could speak to you with words, what would it be saying? You are your own best expert. Trust what comes up when you ask yourself this question (try not to think about it too much!).
o Now visualize yourself choosing a different path. Notice how this feels in your body. How and where does it feel different? What is your body saying to you about this decision?
o What will you do with this new information?

Thoughts and Feedback on Your Life Coaching Questions
Each month I will respond to your questions about life...living on purpose, creating harmony, becoming well, realizing your goals and your dreams! If you have a question you would like me to address, please send an e-mail to kellie@inessence-coaching.com.
Your Question: What book(s) would you recommend that could help me overcome some of the fears that seem to be getting in the way of me reaching my goals?
Answer: Two books immediately come to my mind:
One of my favorites is "Taming Your Gremlin: A Surprisingly Simple Method for Getting Out of Your Own Way" by Rick Carson. This is an easy read full of exercises that will help you identify and shift the fears and limiting beliefs that can hold you back.
Another book on this topic is "Feel the Fear...and Do It Anyway" by Susan Jeffers. Althought I have not yet read it (it is on my "must read" list!), I have heard wonderful things from numerous colleagues.
