Revelation 22:1-2
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on each side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Greetings!

Our class this time was as basic as you can get. I contend that the message of the scriptures is not that difficult to understand. I think, at times, we make it more complicated than it really is. God set out his plan for man before the foundation of the world, then he had inspired men write down his plan in his book, the Bible.

It is good, every now and again, to be reminded of where it all started, where we fit in to the plan, and where it will ultimately end.

God's Plan for Man
Genesis 3

Temptation is always with us. It affects us every day of our lives. Understanding that, and recognizing it when it presents itself, is so important.

In the Garden of Eden, when Eve was confronted by the serpent, she was beguiled. Eating of the one fruit that was forbidden to her and Adam suddenly looked attractive and beneficial to her. She put aside the specific instruction that God had given to Adam and she was enticed to go against God and satisfy her own short-term desires.

That is the trouble with temptation. It is attractive. It sounds so reasonable when we are confronted with it. It seemsinnocent enough at the time, but, succumbing to it always has consequences. Adam and Eve were put out of the garden; they were separated from God, and the consequences of that come down to us today.

If that were all there was to the story, it would be very sad, but, God had already put into place his plan to reconcile man to God. Whereas sin separated man from God, the blood of Christ, shed on Calvary's cross, would pay the price for that sin.

I know that is so. You and I cannot do anything about sins we have committed. Those sins would keep us eternally from our God, but Christ's blood has already paid the price for them. If we have obeyed the gospel and have been baptized for the remission of our sins and have received the gift of the Holy Spirit, God has promised us that we are saved.

Adam and Eve were denied access to the tree of life when they sinned and were put out of the garden. You and I will have full access to it in heaven. I encourage you to read Revelation, chapter twenty-two and see that it is so.
Next Week's Lesson

Next week, our class title is "The Middle of the Bible." If you were to count up all the verses in scripture and then divide them up so that you could discover which verse was at the the exact middle of all the verses, you would come to Psalm 118;8. This is where we will start our class next week. We will attempt to answer several questions concerning the Psalm itself, that verse in particular, and the significance of it all, if any, for us today. I invite you to join us as we continue looking at The Heart of the Matter.

Thank you for your continued interest in God's Word and His plan for your life. I pray that you may find peace with God every day of your life.
