God's Plan for Man
Genesis 3
Temptation is always with us. It affects us every day of our lives. Understanding that, and recognizing it when it presents itself, is so important.
In the Garden of Eden, when Eve was confronted by the serpent, she was beguiled. Eating of the one fruit that was forbidden to her and Adam suddenly looked attractive and beneficial to her. She put aside the specific instruction that God had given to Adam and she was enticed to go against God and satisfy her own short-term desires.
That is the trouble with temptation. It is attractive. It sounds so reasonable when we are confronted with it. It seemsinnocent enough at the time, but, succumbing to it always has consequences. Adam and Eve were put out of the garden; they were separated from God, and the consequences of that come down to us today.
If that were all there was to the story, it would be very sad, but, God had already put into place his plan to reconcile man to God. Whereas sin separated man from God, the blood of Christ, shed on Calvary's cross, would pay the price for that sin.
I know that is so. You and I cannot do anything about sins we have committed. Those sins would keep us eternally from our God, but Christ's blood has already paid the price for them. If we have obeyed the gospel and have been baptized for the remission of our sins and have received the gift of the Holy Spirit, God has promised us that we are saved.
Adam and Eve were denied access to the tree of life when they sinned and were put out of the garden. You and I will have full access to it in heaven. I encourage you to read Revelation, chapter twenty-two and see that it is so. |
