The Alumni Association Scholarship Challenge
Here's a challenge for CSS alumni: If 200 alums make a gift of any size
to this year's annual fund, CSS's alumni trustees - Board President Scott
Berry '83 and trustees David Donner '83, Tami Goodlette '88, Betsy Long

more than 200 alums step up, the size of the scholarship may increase.)
The current Alumni Scholarship recipient, Gabe Yaakob '10 is president of our Model UN

Arts on Campus

MUSIC An upsurge in participation in our choirs and bands has also meant improved performance as demonstrated by the Upper School fall concert on November 11. The music faculty report that the 41-member choir and 29-member band now have a greater understanding of the balance, blend and depth their voices and instruments create --- and have achieved a much more mature sound as a result.

Additionally, music is taught and celebrated in every division at CSS. Children's School performed a medley of festive holiday songs at the recent Holiday Tea Concerts. VISUAL ARTS The visual arts department continues its Visiting Artist program which "allows students to draw
on their own unique talents as they examine the works and lessons of
accomplished artists," says program coordinator, Hans Wolfe. "We are
fortunate to have these artists working hands-on in the classroom." Last
year, the program brought painter Ned Aldrich '87 to campus, and painter Anthony Dortch '96
will visit in February. The Gallery in Louisa recently showed
the work of painter Anthony Archuleta, who has also visited classrooms to
demonstrate classic fresco techniques. As the year goes on, the Gallery also showcases work by CSS students, and has included:
