A LOT is going on so I have many things to share with you
about my ministry to troubled youth. Here goes...
TRUTH Teen Retreat
October 9-10 was the weekend of the TRUTH Teen Retreat at
Camp Chetek located in Chetek, Wisconsin. If you don't know where Chetek,
Wisconsin is... well it's pretty far north! It's a little further north that
Minneapolis so that's pretty far up there in my opinion!
I had the privilege of being the speaker at the TRUTH
Retreat. Jennifer and our kids, Brett and Jillian were able to go as well.
Having teens and speaking at a teen retreat is something I enjoy at this stage
in my life.
Randy Tanis is the camp director after serving more than 20
years as a youth pastor in Wisconsin and their staff put together a great
weekend.
Youth groups came from all over Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Randy expected 50 and called me to say there were registrations for more than
90 but the final count was over 120! My prayer was that God would use the
weekend to help the teens truly understand the TRUTH of God's word.
Several teens made decisions regarding their relationship
with God, decisions to trust God with their trials and stand strong against
peer pressure. One youth group from the inner city of Minneapolis felt a real
connection with my ministry to inner city youth in Indianapolis. I have some
great stories of victory in the lives of youth here at home I shared at the
retreat. These youth went back to Minneapolis and gave testimonies in Sunday
school of the retreat and 10 more teens accepted Christ as Savior as a result!
Revival In The Detention Center
Please be in prayer for a special emphasis of revival at the
detention center in Indianapolis. During the first week of November the
Chaplain team will be having special evening sessions focused on revival. I
will be speaking several nights to the youth.
From Gangs To God
I have been invited by staff within the Marion County Prosecutor's
office to be a part of a new advisory group seeking to create solutions that
will help teens break away from gangs in the inner city. We are in the early
stages of our talks but I am considering a new element of my ministry to be
developed in a neighborhood where gang activity is high and some teens are
asking for help.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
In Christ,
Ken Turner
