NEWS For Our Mentor Outreach Team! - July 30, 2009
 WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
But we need your help right away. Start by joining us on Thursday nights at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center for our group mentoring sessions with the young men and the young ladies. It starts at 6:30 PM and ends at 8:00 PM.
We will be meeting:
July 30 (Tonight!)
August 6
August 13
August 20 (No group mentoring due to new mentor training)
August 27
*Note: If you have completed Mentor Orientation and received approval regarding your background check, you are welcome to come. If you have questions about any of your paperwork, please contact me and we can discuss any items that are missing.
Mentor Documents can be downloaded from our Mentor Outreach Team website. You can then print them, complete them and fax them in! All information including fax numbers are on the documents. Click here.
 Our Kids Want You As Their Friend. Last week I mentioned in our group mentor session in F Unit that we are developing a mentor program. Several guys approached me after the session and asked if they could specifically request a mentor. They said things like, "If I had a mentor it would help so much. I feel like I would be able to be strong and make better choices. Can you promise that I will get a mentor?"
On Monday night I met with about 25 parents and youth during parent visitation. Everyone I talked to, I told them we are developing a mentor program. You would be amazed how many guys asked me to write down their name to be on the list to receive a mentor.
 Mentor Prospects: If you have considered becoming a part of our Mentor Outreach Team, please attend one of our Mentor Training Sessions next week!
- Two sessions are offered for new mentor training (you only need to attend one.)
- Wednesday, August 19 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
- Thursday, August 20 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
