This week I am asking my friends to commit to spending a moment each day from Monday through Friday, praying for the teens I minister to. So many of these youth have great needs and are responding to God's voice in their life. We need to pray for them to continue to listen and respond to His voice.
Would you pray each day this week (Monday through Friday) for God's will to be done in the lives of these troubled youth AND for God's hand on my life and ministry?
If you are on Facebook you might have already received this message and if so I appreciate the great response.
Thank you for committing to pray this week for the youth I minister to. And thank you for praying for God's presence and power in my life as I reach out to these youth.
Last night (Monday) I had a Bible study at the detention center in Indianapolis. It seems lately that the enemy is working hard but God is also doing great things. I know going in that these boys have heavy burdens and I want to offer hope and pour truth into their lives. We had a great study last night and I prayed one on one with many boys who were literally waiting in line to talk with me. Here are some examples of what they said...
15 year old... pray for my 19 year old brother. He hung himself because he was having problems with his girlfriend. He is responding to people by only blinking his eyes.
14 year old... pray for my court date Wednesday. I think I will be released after six months of detention. My grandparents have agreed to take me in. I wrote a one page paper to give the Judge stating my new "Life Plan" which includes weekly Bible studies with Ken Turner.
16 year old boy pray for me, today is my birthday.
15 year old boy... pray for me to have thoughts that please God.
This week:
Wednesday - Pray for a 14 year old boy who will have a court hearing and hopefully be released after being in now for 6 months. We have become close. Every week he says, "I love you Ken and thank God for bringing you here."
