25 visual artists coming together to promote cancer awareness
25 visual artists coming together to promote cancer awareness

Greetings!

As most of you already know, I

don't shy away from supporting my community -- especially when it comes to the fight against cancer. I created the Matt LeBlanc Art for Life Campaign last year to raise awareness and much-needed funds for the Tree of Hope Campaign, an annual event by the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation in Moncton.  The campaign was a huge success -- I raised a grand total of $38,000 for the foundation.

As a way to kick off my awareness effort this year, I went to my fellow artists for some help. I've spent the last two months putting together an online video with 24 other artists from North America and as far away as Australia. The idea is simple -- each artist answers one question: Why do you paint?  The video is a collection of answers from these artists. Click on the image to see it! The video ends with a powerful message:

Painting is life.

We love to paint and we love life.

We are all artists and we are all for finding a cure for cancer.

Gallery Style Art Walls

Written by Vanessa from Vanessa Francis Design

I'm so honoured to be writing a post for Matt's blog. I purchased one of his beautiful Art for Life paintings to support a worthwhile cause and to add an original abstract to my very small (but hopefully, growing) collection of art.

On my blog, Décor Happy, I have written ad nauseum about how art can transform a space.  I love discovering new artists and have always said that original art doesn't have to be expensive.

My love for art walls is no secret.  I love the stories they tell and the life they bring to a space - the more random they are hung, the better.  In fact, Matt's painting inspired me to create one in my living room.  I used art and photography that I already had, only purchasing a couple of prints from artists.  Every time I look at it, I smile. I have changed the "Be Happy" painting I did a few times since this photo was taken.

The Matt LeBlanc Art Branding

A brand is something special.  A brand is hard to acquire.  It depends on a lot of elements and doesn't come overnight.  It requires a lot of work to build and can be lost in a second.

A brand is essentially a sum of all the activities, messages and elements projected by a company or a person that defines who they are and what they do.  It's essentially the image that comes to mind when they hear your name.

I've been working hard the past four years to build the Matt LeBlanc Art brand.  Everything I do is to reinforce who I am as an artist.  A logo is not a brand.  It's just one of the elements that form the brand and it's also something that I didn't have up until today.

Building a great logo is extremely hard.  I hired a good friend of mine and the very talented Jocelyne Saulnier from Joce Creative. She came up with 5-6 options and I fell in love with two of them.  It took me a long time to pick the winner but I'm really happy with my decision.  I wanted something simple, professional but yet powerful enough to get noticed.  I think she nailed it!!
