Greetings! First and foremost, happy New Year to everyone! Hopefully you had a good Christmas break. My Christmas was the best I've had so far. My youngest is now 3 and my oldest is almost 6 so they were so excited about the whole thing. We spent a lot of quality time together, which is the most important thing about the holidays. A new year is a good time to reflect on the past but most importantly on the future. I'm not a big fan of resolutions. They don't normally last and why wait for the New Year to change things? Ever since I can remember I always wanted to mix things up. I always wanted to do things differently. I remember my mom used to put the Christmas decorations the same way every year. It was so bad that I had to take out the piece of scotch tape from the previous year to put the new one. One year I told her that we needed to change everything. She asked why. To be different mom, to make things better! She did change things up that year and it made me very happy!
Same thing applies in business. I'm a strong believer that I constantly need to evolve and change things to keep my brand fresh. I don't need to wait for the New Year to do so either. I constantly think about my business and how I can improve what I'm doing. It's one of my strongest assets as an artist. A lot of artists are good at what they do but don't necessarily think about the business side of things. I took a quick look at last year's newsletter for January. I basically covered two things. The first one was the launch of my new site and the other one was a hint about a big fundraiser I was planning for 2010. Funny enough, I spent the last 3 weeks updating my site. The site I launched last year was really good but it lacked flexibility. Since I'm a big fan of innovation, I decided to revamp it and now everything is customizable. I'm extremely happy with it and the best part is that I have 100% control on everything. As for the fundraiser, don't be surprised if I come back with something else this year. As you probably guessed it, it will be different. I have to innovate right? Happy New Year to everyone and don't be afraid to innovate!
