I'm a National Public Radio fan. One of their best features is "
This I Believe." These essays written by ordinary people based on their own life experiences are interesting and often surprising.
The Church has its own communal version of "This I Believe." Think the Apostles Creed or the Nicene Creed.
Confirmands are often asked to write their own Credo or statement of religious belief. This allows them to articulate what they currently believe. Even if it deviates from our historical creeds.
I've put my own beliefs about The Church into a 4 minute video below.

Based on these 7 beliefs, I have a new vision for my ministry through BridgeWorks. I work with church leaders to facilitate the growth of healthy, vibrant churches of the future...now! By building bridges of understanding from the past to the future; and from the church to the world. I'm really psyched about this vision! And how it allows me to work with you.
Church Leaders, when's the last time you wrote your own Credo? Or fine-tuned your own vision for ministry? It's liberating!
Sharing with others what we truly believe is a liberating, creative--albeit vulnerable--process.
And it's one of the key tasks of leadership. Through this process we define ourselves and help shape a new reality.
Blessings on your work of leadership,
Rebekah
