Greetings!
Plant Peace on 10/10/10
Somewhere in Israel the Max Goldberg Forest is growing. I have the Jewish National Fund certificates to prove it. For $10 a pop, my grandmother Miriam planted hundreds and hundreds of trees in his name for all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grands in memory of my grandfather Max Goldberg.
In February of this year, participants on our Holy Land pilgrimage got down in the dirt to plant our own trees in Israeli soil: 41 almond, hyssop, pistachio and rosemary saplings found a new home. More certificates.
Maybe that's where I got the idea for a Peace Forest here in the Rocky Mountain West.
This first-ever interfaith Peace Forest will be an opportunity for Jews, Christians and Muslims to work together to create a living symbol of our ability to restore the earth, learn from each other, and create peace--one tree at a time.
You can help make history by sponsoring a tree, saying a blessing, digging a hole, or placing a sapling in it's new environs on that day. You'll also get a certificate!
On 10/10/10 join us at the Sand Creek Greenway near I-70 and Havana, from 1 to 5 pm for blessing, planting, laughter, friendship and the joy of a new beginning. If you can't be there in person, be there in spirit by sponsoring one or more trees.
Schedule--Rain or Shine! 1:00 Check In and Refreshments 1:30 Religious Blessings of the Trees 2-4:45 Planting 4:45 Closing
Location Look for The Sand Creek Greenway Trailhead and Parking ½ mile west of Havana St. on Smith Road in Denver. Take the Havana St. exit off I-70.
