What is WiFi Positioning?
Introduction  Spirent

Many observers believe that the urban canyon and indoor problem will be progressed, maybe even fixed, over the next few years. The candidate technologies are already in place and significant progress is already being made. This revolution has already started with assisted-GPS, where the

GSS5700

almanac and ephemeris (precise satellite location) data is uploaded to reduce the search window, resulting in quicker Time To First Fix (TTFF) and the ability to acquire lower power signals, including limited ability to navigate indoors. At the user level, we are seeing new applications, falling prices and better performance. GNSS is appearing everywhere.

Wi-Fi positioning is, however, rapidly gaining acceptance as a complement and supplement to GNSS positioning for indoor environments. Wi-Fi hotspots are prevalent in the very areas where GNSS starts to struggle and many 'smart' devices are already equipped with Wi-Fi technology that can support positioning applications. Numerous service providers are offering the essential databases that enable the overall positioning capability. learn more

Distributed Sensing Using Fiber
IntroductionLuna logo
Luna Technologies' Optical Distributed Sensor Interrogator (ODiSI) instrument saves time and cost while adding a new dimension to sensing measurements with its unprecedented
spatial resolution. Using swept-wavelength interferometry, the ODiSI interrogates thousands of sensing locations on a single optical fiber
simultaneously.

Reduce cost and better characterize your system by instrumenting many sensing locations with a single, inexpensive optical fiber.

With sensors suitable for surface bonding or embedding in composites, this technology can accomplish your objectives either by direct integration during manufacturing or later installation.

Applications:
Structural monitoring for naval, aerospace and civil structures:

Luna's fully distributed sensing technology yields dynamic capture of the entire strain field.

  • Conformal deformation
  • Composite damage assessment
  • Bonded joint integrity monitoring
Temperature profile monitoring:
  • Fuel cells
  • Concrete cure temperature monitoring in large structures
  • Industrial chemical process monitoring
  • High temperature capabilities - up to 300°C

Better accuracy for a broader workload
Fluke logo
Introduction
Expand the workload capability of your power and electrical calibrators
The Fluke Calibration 52120A Transconductance Amplifier supplies DC current up to 100 amps and AC current up to 120 amps, at accuracies to 140 ppm. Using accessory coils, it can generate 3,000 or 6,000 amps. Three 52120As connected in parallel can output up to 360 amps. Inductive drive capability of 1 mH and compliance voltage of 4.5 volts support a wide range of applications.

Fundamentals of Mixed Domain Oscilloscopes
Introduction  Tektronix MDO
Today's design engineers often must debug complex devices, with integrated analog and digital signals, serial buses, and now  RF signals for wireless communication. In this application note, learn how a Mixed Domain Oscilloscope (MDO) offers time-correlated analog, digital, and RF signal acquisition for a complete system view.  Discover the benefits of seeing both the time and frequency domains in one glance, and the advantages of viewing the RF spectrum changes over time. Learn about the powerful capabilities of the Tektronix MDO Series to debug today's complex designs, and the unique architecture that enables it all.
One Step Safety Testing
IntroductionAssociated Research
Ask any manufacturer that deals with production line electrical safety testing and they will tell you that the two most commonly performed tests are the Hipot test and some form of ground integrity test (usually referred to as a Omnia IIGround Continuity test or a Ground Bond test). This is because most standards require these tests to be performed as 100% production line tests on every product before shipment. While traditional safety testers perform only one type of test, more advanced testers are capable of performing different types of tests in sequence, increasing efficiency on the production line. Associated Research offers electrical safety testing options for a variety of requirements and budgets.
