Gala Grande A Smash Hit!

Cardboard CowboyThe RGS Community gathered at the Encantado Resort on Saturday, February 20th for the Silver Screen & Spurs Gala Grande.  Cowboy hats, bolo ties, sequins, and boots were plentiful and stylish in the sold-out crowd that bid on silent and live auction items throughout the evening. By the end of the night, the Gala had raised over $95,000 for the RGS tuition assistance program!

Thanks to the Auction Chairs Krista Tyra and Robin Roffer and the Auction Committee for putting on such a special night.  To all those involved in the planning and execution of the Gala Grande, our sincere thanks.  Congratulations are also due to 2nd grade teacher, Kirsty Mitchell, who was the lucky and well-deserved recipient of the faculty raffle for the trip to Kauai.

Will, Charles, MichelSpecial thanks also needs to be given to Art Specialist Melissa Merritt, who spent countless hours prior to the event putting together the intricate and exquisite original artwork of each class - often the most coveted pieces of the entire evening.  From contemporary paintings, prints, and original furniture, including the instant classic 6th Grade Chili Pepper Rocker, the ingenuity involved in these works was extremely impressive.

RGS Junior Varsity & Varsity Basketball Teams Advance in Playoffs

This Saturday, the Santo Nino gymnasium filled to the brim with basketball fans and players ready to take part in the end-of-season tournament.

RGS' Junior Varsity squad took to the court first in a 1:00 match-up with Santo Nino.  Led by fourth graders Nicky Perillo, Jack Pagano, and Bowie Casey, and third graders Spencer Calavan, Ojiro Ochiai, and Luke Stein, the Hawks emerged with a victory.  The Junior Varsity takes on a tough opponent in Holy Cross in the championship game tomorrow evening, March 2, at 5:30 at Santo Nino.  RGS' previous contest with Holy Cross ended in a nailbiting overtime loss, but their momentum from Saturday's win will certainly bring them confidence in their final game of what has been a very successful season.

RGS' Varsity squad played at 3:00 against Christian Life.  They also came out with an impressive win, and have their semi-final match-up set for tonight, Monday 3/1 at 5:30 versus Santo Nino at Santo Nino.  Should they win this evening, the Championship would be played on Tuesday evening at Santo Nino at 6:30 pm.
RGS Summer Solution Registration Now Open!

There might still be snow on the ground, but many are already making summer camp plans, and RGS is doing the same.  The 2010 RGS Summer Solution registration has begun!

Students will come home this afternoon with the flyer detailing the five week summer extravaganza spanning from June 14 - July 16.  This year the summer program is will be directed by Kindergarten Associate, Neal Turnquist, & 3rd Grade Associate/Extended Care Director, Kate Remsberg.

Theme weeks include a week dedicated to kings, queens, princesses, and knights, as well as a week built around superheroes & superheroines.  The very popular July Jamboree will also make it's return to the final week of camp, plus other exciting events and themes.

What's new this summer?  We've extended our day to 5:00 to make room for more structured activities after lunch, as well as aftercare services starting at 3:00pm.  We've also got Melissa Merritt participating in our first three weeks of camp to fully integrate art into each of our theme weeks.

For more information on this year's Summer Solutions, please email Neal & Kate, or check out the registration form, which has all the information you'll need to know to plan for your summer.

Make sure to register while spots are still available!
