Do you ever have questions about architecture, engineering, or retail development? If so, ask me! You never know... some of us may be wondering the same thing. It's quite possible that I won't know the answer off-hand, but I will research it, and will discuss my findings in my next newsletter, not only sharing this information to you but also sharing it with many others in the industry. I'm always happy to learn more about our industry and to share my newfound knowledge with you!

MRP shows their love for a local school and baseball...
MRP Design Group recently completed volunteer work on a 5000 square foot indoor batting facility for North Cobb High School in Acworth Georgia. The facility provides offices for coaches, a large locker room for the varsity players, two full length hitting tunnels and a full length pitching area. Jonathan Edwards, Jess Mccullough, and Tom Weiner are engineers for MRP, and they provided services free of charge to assist with this local community project. The facility is already paying dividends as the North Cobb varsity team has made the semi-finals of the Georgia AAAAA State tournament. MRP Design Group has supported the North Cobb High School baseball team for over seven years with the President of MRP Design Group, Ken Dalton, being an officer of the Booster Club for three years. The attached picture is Ken throwing the first pitch for N. Cobb High in the quarter final of the state tournament game. |
Landscaping Tips
Except for the pollen, everyone is happy about spring finally arriving. With the recent rains and mild winter we had, it's time to get some outside landscape maintenance done. Below are a few things that almost everyone needs to make sure they get done. As always, if you have questions, please call me.
Lawns
Fertilize lightly and repair dead spots. Use a pre-emergent herbicide to reduce crabgrass if needed. To revive a weak lawn, dethatch, aerate and reseed. Edge the lawn around the base of trees, shrubs, and flower beds.
Trees, Shrubs and Ground Cover
Replace organic mulch at base of trees and shrubs. Apply all-purpose fertilizer around drip line of plants. Prune off any dead, diseased or broken braches. Prune shrubs that flower in the summer. Rejuvenate ground covers by grooming, raking and fertilizing.
Flower Beds
Prepare planting beds by amending the soil with organic matter. Plant warm season annuals. Mulch flower beds to at least 3 inches. Prune and plant roses. Divide overcrowded perennials and replant or give away as clumps. Replace old soil in window boxes. Cut back spring bulb foliage as it yellows. Apply all-purpose fertilizer around drip line of plants.
Planting Time?
Armed with the information above, I think it's safe to get those annuals started. Pay close attention to any frost warnings and cover up those plants if necessary.

What's Your Company's Image?
Exterior Store design acts as a signature billboard for your company's personal image, and that unique image should always be carried through the entire interior design. Casework and fixtures should be reflections of the quality and dynamics of your product and service offering, and should always provide consumer excitement that builds repeat customers for your business. Design, function and expenses are important considerations in every project, and choosing the right suppliers to partner with is a key component of your total project build. Sustainable products, Natural wood and high end finishes can add great appeal to consumers and act as a subjective personality of your business.
MRP prides itself in knowing its customers needs, and creating dynamic and functionally effective designs. Making those designs come to life, Atlanta based casework manufacturer E.L.F. is a vibrant and energetic supplier to the Commercial Construction Industry, and can help provide you with cost effective production solutions that achieve results.

Buddy

Should Buddy be our new company Mascot? He's a purebred golden retriever - they're known for their intelligence, eager to please attitude, loyalty and consistent good nature. Perfect fit I'd say! I don't know of any dog breeds that are considered "detail oriented", so this may have to do! :o)

Save on gas
Be sure your car is in good mechanical condition, as dirty air filters, worn out spark plugs, and over/under inflated tires decrease gas mileage. Also check your manual to see if you really need that plus or supreme gas.

Increase your health and wealth at the same time
Many Americans are trying to figure out new ways to budget - we either have to find a way to make more money or spend less, given the increased expenses we're facing. How about pulling out your old new years resolution and trying it again!? Health and wealth can go hand in hand. You already know this - just do it! Exercise, take your daily vitamins, and eat natural foods. Stay away from preservatives and high fat/high sugar foods. Drink LOTS of water. Pack a healthy lunch. For family dinners get into the habit of using your BBQ grill instead of going out. BBQ fresh veggies too instead of opening that can of creamed corn and baked beans.
Obesity is a growing epidemic, and your children will thank you later for instilling good eating habits in them as kids. Ditch the chicken nuggets and high sugar snacks. Make smoothies, keep fruits, veggies, nuts, and natural lowfat yogurt on hand. With picky eaters - variety is key.
These habits will help keep you healthy and save money on dr. visits and eating out. | |
