| SUMMER READING ENDS AUGUST 10 | | |
Summer Reading officially ends at 5pm on Friday, August 10. We'd like to thank you for reading with us, and remind you to record your reading minutes and use any $5 fine waiver cards before then. Stop by any library location to pick up prizes by 5pm on Friday, August 17. Grand prize drawing winners will be contacted during the week of August 13. Visit www.cmlibrary.org/summerread for details.

| TEACHER LOAN LIBRARY CARDS | | |
Do you teach in Mecklenburg County? If so, you qualify for a special library card. Did you know the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library offers Teacher Loan Cards by request to teachers in Mecklenburg County? Teacher Loan Cards enable teachers to borrow items for extended periods for classroom use. Learn more about the benefits and how to apply.
For those who already have Teacher Loan Cards, be aware that teacher loan cards need to be renewed in person each year. If you obtained your Teacher Loan Card prior to June 2012, it will expire on August 15, 2012. Just visit any library branch after August 15 and present one of the documents listed here to renew your card for the coming school year. If you have questions, please call or visit your nearest library.

| FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY | |  Friends of the Library will celebrate the community at third annual Rock & Read 5K in November.
Friends of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, the non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the library, will host its third annual Rock & Read 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012. The group will also hold a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk and a Kids' Dash featuring Chubby of the Charlotte Checkers. The Rock & Read 5K will take place at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, Scaleybark Branch in Southend.

| COMING IN SEPTEMBER | | September Holiday closures: All libraries will be closed for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3.
Main and ImaginOn will be closed during the DNC. Main Library and ImaginOn will close to the public during the Democratic National Convention (DNC). This decision was made by the Library Board last October due to concerns about safety, access and parking. The means that in addition to the days the library is normally closed, Main and ImaginOn will also be closed Tuesday, Sept. 4 through Saturday, Sept. 8. We'll have more details in our September issue. New Sunday hours coming to regional libraries, Main and ImaginOn, after Labor Day
Sunday hours at regional libraries (Beatties Ford, Independence, Morrison, North County, South County, and University City) begin September 9, 2012 (after Labor Day). Sunday hours will also resume at Main Library and ImaginOn on that same day. Sunday hours at regional libraries and Main/ImaginOn will be Sundays from 1-5pm during the school year (Labor Day to Memorial Day). The new Sunday hours at regionals were made possible by additional FY13 funding from Mecklenburg County. |
