Information for library customers about holiday hours, summer hours, and upcoming service impacts due to a server move.

Memorial Day Holiday

All libraries will be closed on Monday, May 28 in observance of Memorial Day.

Summer Hours begin after Memorial Day

As part of a cost-saving measure that began in the summer of 2009, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library will again close on Sundays in the summer, starting June 3 and ending September 9. During this time all libraries in Mecklenburg County will be closed on Sundays. This change will only affect the hours at the two libraries normally open on Sundays: Main Library and ImaginOn. From June 2-4, the Library will be relocating servers from Main Library to a County data center. All libraries will be closed Monday, June 4.

The project will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, after libraries close to the public. Libraries will be closed on Sunday, June 3, and will remain closed on Monday, June 4.

During this time, many remote customer services such as telephone renewal, the library catalog, and access to customer accounts will unavailable for periods of time. Customers who call their local library branch may get a fast busy signal at certain times.

No overdue fines will be charged during these days. Outdoor book drops will remain open.

The Library expects to return to normal service by 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5.

This move is part of a technology enhancement to help provide continuity of service to Library customers. By relocating library servers to Mecklenburg County's Peak 10 Data Center, it will ensure that a power outage at Main Library will not impact bandwidth-dependent services at other library branches. Information about the project is available on our web site cmlibrary.org.

Thank you for your understanding while we continue to make your library system even better.
