Teen Tech Week

Teens are encouraged to 'geek out' at the library during Teen Tech Week, March 4-10.

Local teens will be tuning in as Charlotte Mecklenburg Library

Science Library - compete with the Neocube
In the SCIENCE LIBRARY workshop, participants will replicate complex structures quickly and efficiently by working in groups using the Neocube. Compete against other teens to see who will be the reigning science wizard.

celebrates the sixth annual Teen Tech Week March 4-10. We join thousands of other libraries and schools across the country who are celebrating this year's theme, Geek Out @ your libraryŽ.

"Teen Tech Week is a way for librarians and educators to collaborate with and educate teens about technology," says Teen Librarian Tiffany Boeglen. "Over the last several years the library's role in increasing digital literacy has become more and more important, equal to that of reading literacy."

Classes include workshops that let teens get hands-on with digital technologies through science and art, as well as informative programs that talk about the need for secure passwords.

Never Stop Learning
Ms. Moton

Meet Ms. Moton. At 105 years old, she recently learned how to use a computer. Though she always had the desire to learn, she never had the means or opportunity. That is, until she participated in a Library Outreach program hosted at a local senior nutrition site. Congratulations, Ms. Moton -- we knew you could do it. Read the full story.

With your library, you too can be a person who never stops learning!

We hope that you find this e-mail useful. If so, please forward to a friend so they won't miss a thing.

We'll see you at the Library!
