Middle Schoolers Enjoy Fun, Focus, & Inspiration During the week before they leave for the Marin Headlands and Washington, D.C., Middle School students are both looking back at the year and preparing for their travel programs. Seventh graders enjoyed a Super Kickball tournament, discussed the importance of mindset and amplifying "positivity," hiked to Carrillo Ranch, and reflected on the challenges and great moments of their seventh-grade year. Eighth graders prepared for their Washington, D.C. trip by reviewing their busy itinerary, researching topics related to the sites they will see, and presenting their findings to their peers. One of their destinations will be the Holocaust Museum, and on Thursday, May 31st, students had the privilege of meeting Holocaust survivor Dr. Edie Eger. Dr. Eger shared with students her optimism and vitality, along with her extraordinary survival story. Thank you, Dr. Eger, for your inspiring visit!
Dr. Eger speaks to students. Year-End Travel Programs Are Underway! Read on for a quick look at what Pacific Ridge students have been seeing, doing, and experiencing on their year-end trips.
9th-graders are fully immersed in their China trip. They have visited the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, and the Great Wall, the last of which is always a tremendous highlight and challenge. As one blog entry reported, "All students hiked at least 14 gates, which corresponds to about three miles!" All four groups are currently visiting small towns and villages in the central provinces, where they are performing service work, hiking nearby hills and mountains, and getting to know their hosts.
