Singin' in the Rain Brings Crowds and Laughter Appreciative audiences enjoyed a roaring good time when Pacific Ridge students staged three performances of Singin' in the Rain at Star Theatre in Oceanside last weekend. In a production that included not just singing and dancing, but also student-produced silent movies, young thespians told a story of the emergence of "talkies," or talking films, in the 1920s. The entire production, from set construction to publicity, was run by students, with expert guidance from Director Alison Trattner and Musical Director Steve Dziekonski. A heartfelt "Thank you!" goes to the parents who toiled so hard behind the scenes to make the musical a success, and to Ms. Trattner and Mr. Dziekonski for their artistic vision, direction, and skill.

On February 27th, students in Upper School Health class welcomed Dr. Kurt Matthews, a pathologist with Scripps Hospital, who talked to the class about the connection between smoking, drugs, alcohol and disease. Dr. Matthews brought in organs that had been removed because of cancer and other diseases, and invited students to handle and inspect them. Students were intrigued by the presentation, and left with a very concrete impression of how life habits affect one's health and well-being. Thank you Dr. Matthews for your informative and eye-opening visit!
