Side Door Policy

In order to lessen your child(ren)'s risk of exposure to infectious illness when visiting our office, we implemented a new policy of bringing patients with fever in through the side door. When scheduling a sick visit, the receptionist will ask the parent to call from the parking lot when they arrive.  A nurse then meets the family at the side door and brings them directly to an exam room.

Other measures we take to ensure your child(ren)'s safety include sanitizing the waiting room several times a day, sanitizing the exam room after each visit, and reserving the bug room for well baby visits only.

Green Form Season

If you think your child will need a health form for a summer activity or to start school in the fall, we encourage you to call the office now.  While we do offer more well visits each day during the summer, appointments still fill up quickly, and we would prefer to schedule you at a time that is convenient for you.

Call the office at 734.475.4500 or e-mail the office at contact@mykidsdoc.org. (Please note that e-mail is not a secure form of communication and you should allow 2 business days for a reply).

As we move into a time of year when many children come in to see us for their annual well visit, it seems like a good time to talk about why these well visits are so important.  Well visits are an important opportunity for your provider to focus on prevention and screening, 2 major components of primary care.

  • Let's start with PREVENTION. According to the Centers for Disease Control, "four modifiable health risk behaviors-lack of physical activity, poor nutrition, tobacco use, and excessive alcohol consumption-are responsible for much of the illness, suffering, and early death related to chronic diseases." At the well visit your provider has a chance to focus on healthy choices with your child and letting us help your child develop the tools and knowledge to live healthy lives as adults.
  • SCREENING is another important aspect of the well visit.  At these visits, your provider has the chance to screen your child for hearing, vision, growth and development.  At Moore Pediatrics, we also use the Ages and Stages developmental tool for measuring children (through age 5 yrs) along several measures, including, emotional, social, gross motor, neurological, and language development.

Family Dinner

One of the most important things you can do as a parent to help your child physically and emotionally is to sit down together as a family for dinner on a regular basis. Research has shown that children who eat meals with their family are:
  • more likely to eat balanced, nutritious meals
  • less likely to develop eating disorders
  • less likely to abuse prescription or illegal drugs
  • more likely to get better grades in school
  • more likely to report having a better relationship with their parents

Tuesday, April 27th from 9 am-10 am

Coffee with the Doctor: At the Treehouse in downtown Chelsea. Admission is 50% off and light refreshments will be served. Space is limited; please reserve your spot by calling the office today at 734-475-4500.

Car Seat Clinic on April 16 (11 am-2 pm):

One of our most popular events is returning: certified technicians will check that your car seats and booster seats are correctly installed and teach you how to correctly install the seats yourself during a one on one session.
Appointments are available every 20 minutes beginning at 11:00 am.  We will schedule 20 minutes per car seat/booster seat in your car.  Statistics show that 70-90% of car seats are incorrectly installed, and the results of previous car seat safety clinics have matched those statistics.

Call (734) 475-4500 to schedule your appointment
