Association of Women in the Metal Industries
Victoria Lansford is giving a talk to the AWMI on behalf of SNAG, Thursday May 3 in Memphis, TN, at The Metal Museum.
The majority of AWMI members are involved in sales of ferrous and non-ferrous sheet metal. Some of the AWMI members were first introduced to
SNAG through The Metal Museum's exhibition of work that had first been featured in Metalsmith's

SNAG TV Call for Entries Deadline May 5 Kat Cole uses video to dramatically capture her Progressive Landscape piece. In her SNAG TV entry she uses what is called a Dolly Shot to slide along the piece in a linear movement. This shot mixed with her soundtrack creates a very bold presentation! Watch her video here.
Shoot your story and share your video online with SNAG members, conference attendees, and the world. SNAG TV will be a constant stream of video revealing the stories, inspiration, and artwork of our members.
This exhibition will grow online with a YouTube channel, a Facebook page and a View + Vote period leading up to the "Heat is On" conference next month. The #1 ranked video in each of our 4 submission categories will be awarded a $100 electronics gift card at the conference final night party!

Minneapolis Conference in 2014
We are happy to announce that the title and theme of our Minneapolis conference in April 2014 is "From Grains to Gold." The conference will explore the relationship between the maker and the materials at a time when the materials and techniques are rapidly changing, and delve into what it means to be "hand-made" in the 21st century.
After the demise of America's traditional industries, a shift in social consciousness has emerged from the excesses and dehumanization of the global market, leading to the resurgence of people buying locally made objects and supporting their communities. "From Grains to Gold" will explore the growing trend of consumer' desires for the "hand-made" and what that means for artists today.
Once known as the "flour milling Capital of the world," Minneapolis artists, craftspeople, musicians, designers, and performers have taken over the long-forgotten grain warehouses and industrial buildings and turned them into a vibrant arts district. |
