Week of March 19, 2012
Greetings!
I am happy to announce the release of SNAG's 2012-2016 Strategic Plan, which will guide our activities and programming for the next five years. This Plan articulates four goals and the specific strategies we will implement to achieve those goals. The complete Plan is available on SNAG's website.
We have two presidential candidates this year, John Rose and Renee Zettle-Sterling. We also have four candidates running for two seats on the board of directors: Marthe Le Van, Sharon Massey, Brigitte Martin and Pam Robinson. And two candidates running for one seat on the Nominations & Elections Committee, Michael Dale Bernard and Susan Skoczen. Read more about them on the Election pages of our website. Starting in April, we will run profiles of each individual candidate, one per week.
And last, we have a new batch of SNAG members' work on our website, on the homepage and rotating throughout the inside pages. This opportunity is an exclusive member benefit. Our format size is 200 x 200 pixels at 72 dpi in a .jpg file format. To date we've showcased the work of more than 400 members. Send yours to me at dsinger@snagmetalsmith.org.

Benjamin Lignel Video
Inbred. Insular. Marginal. Invisible. Artists in our field tend to describe themselves as cultural outcasts, the deserving but unrecognized actors of a yet-to-be-put-on-the-Google-map artistic field.
This lecture by Benjamin Lignel at the Jewellery Unleashed Symposium looks at the difference between legitimacy and public recognition, and a few strategies being used to give contemporary jewelry wider exposure. Last year Mr. Lignel participated on the panel, "Nothing if Not Critical," at SNAG's Seattle conference.
