Week of February 20, 2012
Greetings!
NEW starting this year: we want to give members the ability to make more informed decisions about the two candidates who are running for SNAG president this year, John Rose and Renee Zettle-Sterling.
Send Mary Pearse, the Chair of the Nominations & Elections Committee, no more than two questions per member, questions you would like to hear the candidates respond to. Deadline is March 1. Obviously we won't be able to use everyone's questions--instead we'll hone in on the topics being asked by the most members. From those, the Committee will select the six questions that will be posed to the candidates. Starting April 2, we'll publish each question and the responses on our website, one per week, side by side for easy comparison.
On March 1, we'll continue to publish our usual questions and the responses written by candidates for president, the board of directors and NEC in SNAG News and then on our website.

"Craft and the New Economy" is a one-day symposium March 10 at OCAD University in Toronto. This symposium brings together international, national and local speakers to address the relationship between craft and issues of sustainable business practice, technology, DIY and social responsibility.
The term "new economy" does not simply address issues of recession and global connectivity, but the development of new tools, processes of engagement, and the role of craft in the 21st century. Craft and the New Economy is an opportunity to explore the complex terrain of craft as object, profession, and cultural intermediary. Presented by the Ontario Crafts Council in partnership with OCAD's Material Art & Design Program.
