Week of February 13, 2012

Greetings!

I'm happy to report on a renewed collaboration with the Association of Contemporary Jewellery in the UK, thanks to a conversation between Dauvit Alexander, The Justified Sinner, and SNAG's President, Sue Amendolara. Once again, all ACJ members can attend our conference at the rate quoted for SNAG members. Similarly, all SNAG members attending a future ACJ conference will pay only the ACJ member rates.

We're also partnering with ACJ to further the exchange of information between the two organizations.  The ACJ e-bulletin will contain relevant reports from our weekly "Riveting News," and we will publish items of interest from the ACJ. The first two items from ACJ are included in this week's announcements, the internship opportunity with Ute Drecker and the Goldsmiths' Craft & Design Awards in March.

AGTA Gem Show
SNAG had a booth last week at the AGTA Show in Tucson. I felt a lot of excitement about the SNAG conference being in Scottsdale this year. One of the highlights is always seeing the AGTA Spectrum Award winning pieces on display. Here are just a few of the pieces; as always they are beautifully designed and made.

Thank you to Betty Harris, our local coordinator, and the other volunteers who helped sit the booth: Danielle Embry, Gina Mead Howie, Hilary Jones-Wujcik, Donna Lewis, Mark Ramsour, and Don and Jill Stuart.

SNAG's Silent Auction

By popular demand, jewelry and objects return to the SNAG silent auction this year. Check out our special Silent Auction and Raffle Facebook page and come "Like" us.  Browse the raffle items that will be awarded, and see what items will be up for bidding during the 2013 SNAG conference in Phoenix, Arizona during May 23-26. We'll keep posting items as they are donated.  And donors--we welcome you to post information about your donations.

Once again the donating artist will have the option of donating either 100% or 60% of the proceeds to help underwrite SNAG's educational programming. And the artwork bidding will begin at 40% of the retail price. Donating to our silent auction is a terrific way to support SNAG, even if you can't make it to the conference.
