Week of February 6, 2012

Greetings!

Pinterest, a new hot social media platform, is proving to be a great traffic generator for visually based businesses. But Pinterest also has clear guidelines against self-promotion. Is there still a way to use it to promote your work? Check out Megan Auman's video guide to using Pinterest to promote your products without crossing the line. If used properly, Pinterest can be a tool for connecting your work with people, and ultimately driving traffic back to your site.

Megan Auman is one of the featured speakers at this year's SNAG conference in May. Her talk there is "Creating a Culture of Profit."

Exhibition Insurance
All of SNAG's exhibitions are always covered by insurance, consistent with our promulgated Professional Guidelines. It's a natural extension then to announce that the SNAG board of directors implemented the following policy: "All the independent exhibitions that are selected to be featured on our conference Exhibition Crawl must be covered by theft and damage insurance as a condition of being selected." All exhibitions at the Phoenix/Scottsdale conference are already in full compliance; this new policy begins with the 2013 Toronto conference.
Huffington PostSNAG Mentioned in HuffPo
SNAG was mentioned in the Huffington Post on January 26. The writer uses the acronym "SNAG" and in a footnote makes clear that he meant Sensitive New Age Guy, not Society of North American Goldsmiths. I think we've arrived.
