SNAG/crafthaus Scholarship | | Applications for the second annual SNAG/crafthaus scholarship are due January 10, 2012. This SNAG scholarship is for crafthaus members and will be juried by crafthaus editor Brigitte Martin. The first recipient of this scholarship in 2011 was Timothy McMahon.
The recipient will receive a free conference registration to the SNAG conference in Phoenix/Scottsdale, a one-year membership in SNAG, a one-year membership in crafthaus, and prominent blogspace on crafthaus for one year.

Volunteer for the SNAG Booth at AGTA Tucson Gem Show | | Tucson SNAG member Betty Harris is coordinating volunteers to staff SNAG's booth at the Tucson Gem Show. Each shift is four hours. We welcome people who will already have their own business passes; we also have six show passes to share with volunteers. The show dates are Tuesday January 31 through Sunday February 5. Contact Betty Harris if you would like to volunteer. Please also let her know if you will need a pass to the show.

Last Call Nominations for SNAG 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award | | Postmark deadline: no later than November 13, 2011 (received no later than November 15).
The Lifetime Achievement Award is SNAG's highest honor and is presented to individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of metalsmithing. Selection of the award recipient is made by a committee of SNAG members. The Phoenix conference will be dedicated to the 2012 recipient, with the presentation of the award made there.
Any member may nominate someone for the Lifetime Achievement Award. Nomination packages must include a resume or biography of the nominee and an argument in support of their selection. The package should also include letters of support from at least two other SNAG members.
Nomination packages should be sent to the Lifetime Achievement Award Committee Chair: Beth Ann Gerstein, 175 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116.

Call for Entries for CU/29

 In conjunction with SNAG's 2012 conference in Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ, Mesa Art Center is presenting the juried exhibition, "CU|29: Contemporary Work in Copper" from April 6 to August 12, 2012. Juried by metalsmith David Huang, this exhibition will feature contemporary work made primarily of copper (at least 75%). Open to any artist working in copper, and encompasses jewelry, vessels, sculpture and wall pieces. More information about submissions. Deadline November 18, 2011.The exhibition will also highlight exquisite copper vessels created in Santa Clara del Cobre, Mexico, borrowed from several private collections.
