Call for Entries CU/29, November 18 Deadline to Receive Entries | |
 In conjunction with SNAG's 2012 conference in Phoenix, Arizona, Mesa Art Center is presenting the juried exhibition, "CU|29: Contemporary Work in Copper" from April 6 to August 12, 2012. Juried by metalsmith David Huang, this exhibition will feature contemporary work made primarily of copper (at least 75%). Open to any artist working in copper, and encompasses jewelry, vessels, sculpture and wall pieces. More information about submissions. Deadline November 18, 2011. The exhibition will also highlight exquisite copper vessels created in Santa Clara del Cobre, Mexico, borrowed from several private collections.

Board of Directors Strategic Planning Retreat

The SNAG board of directors held its strategic planning retreat in Minneapolis the weekend of September 16-18. Using the results of our online member survey and one-on-one interviews with a number of SNAG members, the board collaboratively built the organization's direction over the next five to ten years. Details are still being work out, with a goal of presenting the plan to the membership early in 2012. Watch for more information here.
While in Minneapolis, American Craft Council Executive Director Chris Amundsen gave the board a personal tour of their new offices, and we were hosted by jewelry designer George Sawyer and Kirk Sklar at their respective studios in the Casket Arts Building.
