Tune in to the Bloggers at the Conference
PDSThis year we're trying something new with the Professional Development Seminar. We know you can't all be there in person, so we're bringing the PDS to you, live in real time. We'll be blogging, posting quotes, links, photos and more at the following locations: http://PDSnews.tumblr.com and http://www.twitter.com/PDS_news.

Be sure to check out the different folks blogging about the overall conference: emiko oye, Winona Johnson, Jillian Moore and Harriete Estel Berman. And Gabriel Craig is also blogging about the conference on behalf of the Art Jewelry Forum.
"Geography" Catalog Available

Geography

The beautiful 80-page catalog for "Geography" is now available through Blurb.com for $19.95. "Geography" is the first exhibition produced by the Art Jewelry Forum, premiering at the Seattle conference. It contains great essays by Ted White, Valeria Siemelink, and Christina Miller. "Geography" showcases international contemporary jewelry that reflects on the global nature of contemporary jewelry and the different ways jewelers react to their environment.
First Look at SNAG TV
SNAG TVTake a look at the first offerings on SNAG TV. SNAG TV will be a constant stream of video and images on a large HD monitor in the main conference area, projecting the inspiration, creativity, artwork and communities that inform, drive and support our field. Watch for much more after the conference.

Richinda Snags a Dream Win:

RichindaAt the final dinner and dance during the 2010 SNAG conference in Houston, Texas, University of Kansas metalsmithing student Richinda Brower whispered her name in a silent mantra before each SNAG raffle winner was announced, even though she did not expect to win because she had never won anything in her life.

A year later, Richinda recalls her reaction:  "They were drawing the winning ticket for the next prize, an amazing hydraulic press forming tool, donated by Otto Frei. At this point, I started whispering my name over and over again. Suddenly, I became aware that my friends at the table were yelling at me, "Richinda, that's you! Richinda-you
won!" They actually had to shake me to realize that I'd actually won, because when my name was called out, I thought that it was just my own voice echoing in my head! I was in total shock and disbelief!"

Richinda is still excited about her win. She had purchased only one raffle ticket during last year's conference due to her strict student budget, but the investment certainly paid off. Richinda looks forward to the day that she graduates and can use the press full time in her home studio. "It's such a time saving tool....I still can't believe I won it!"
