Come "Like" SNAG's New Facebook Page

FacebookSNAG has launched a new Facebook page. This one has News Feed capability, which the "Members of" pages don't. We need everyone to come "Like" us on the new page. Do it now while you're thinking of it. We can't move you over any other way. Soon Google will be archiving the current page. 

2011 Election - Vote Online or By Mail

votingOur online voting will remain open through May 21 at midnight Pacific Time. You can also vote by mail. We will be electing two members of the Board of Directors, a Treasurer, and a member of the Nominations and Elections Committee (NEC). 


Take 10 minutes to read about the candidates and vote in this election. It's a benefit of membership we encourage you to exercise.  Make your voice heard. 

New Seattle Exhibition "CONNECT"

ConnectA new Seattle exhibition is on our radar, open concurrently with the conference. "CONNECT" features the work of nine metalsmiths educated in the Midwest, curated by Joseph Leroux. The exhibition will be open at the Georgetown Art & Cultural Center. Two of the nine artists are SNAG conference "Spotlight On" speakers Miel-Margarita Paredes and Stacey Lee Webber. 
Metalsmith iPad App Available
digital MetalsmithYou should have received an email announcing the new iPad app for Metalsmith. Go to the iTunes App Store, search for Metalsmith magazine, and download the free app now.

Please disable your 3G when downloading magazines and only use wireless. 3G may take ten times longer, or may not work at all.

Once installed, you must log in on the first screen of the app. Use the email address where your digital edition of Metalsmith is delivered, and the Qmags password you set up when you first started receiving your digital magazine. If you need a password reminder there is a button on the login page that will trigger an instant email to you with your password. 

Glance at the pop-up directions or just go to the bookshelf. Simply touch the cover of an issue you'd like to read...the most current issue is top left. The issue will download in 1-2 minutes. Enjoy!

2011 SNAG Election - Board Candidate: Marlene True

Each week we are profiling a different candidate for the 2011 SNAG Election. 


Marlene TrueMarlene True received her M.F.A. in metals from East Carolina University and a B.F.A from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She is currently Program Director for Pocosin Art's Metal Arts and Business Boot Camp Program in Columbia, NC.She has taught workshops and given lectures at colleges, universities and art centers including Penland School of Crafts, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts.

Her work is in various collections throughout the US including the Museum of Arts and Design in New York the Enamel Arts Foundation in Los Angeles, CA and The Racine Museum of Art in Racine Wisconsin.  Recent publications include the Jewelry Design Challenge and Steel Wire Jewelry both by Lark books. Since 2009 she has served as the manager of the silent auction and raffle fundraiser for the Society of North American Goldsmiths, which raises money for student scholarships.
Reminder to Take the SNAG Name Change Survey

name change surveyAt the request of the membership, an Ad Hoc Committee appointed by the SNAG President is looking into the possibility of changing SNAG's name. The Committee needs feedback about how the current name is perceived.

The survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete. Everyone who takes the survey is automatically entered into a drawing for a FREE year's membership. Your responses to this survey help the Committee prepare its report to the Board of Directors.


SNAG members were sent an email last week with a link to the survey. The survey closes June 20.
