Exhibition Proposals for 2012 Conference in Phoenix "The Heat is On" | Humans harness the ability to contain or control heat and the capacity to apply it selectively. Heat can act as a catalyst; it is a necessary factor in the formation of minerals and critical elements. Heat can also be interpreted as a result of friction, or the anxiety and excitement of competition. Whether the techniques we use are ancient or contemporary, many of them share in common the factor of heat.
The 2012 SNAG Conference Exhibitions Committee is inviting artists or curators (individuals or groups) to submit proposals for exhibitions in response to the conference theme.
Deadline for these proposals is April 15. Click here to access more information about each one. The Phoenix conference is May 23-26, 2012, hosted by the Arizona Designer Craftsmen, co-chairs Becky McDonah, Tedd McDonah and Lynette Andreasen.

Anne Havel worked as a CPA for over twenty years before beginning a second career during 2002 as an enamellist, metalsmith, and lampworker. She was in public accounting for fifteen years and was chief financial officer of two companies before she began to create and sell her glass and metalwork in 2002. Anne was treasurer of the Adirondack Mountain Club for five years and has served on the board of a local non-profit organization since 2008.
Since learning enameling in 2007, her work has been in 16 exhibitions, she has been a Niche Awards finalist the last three years in the metal-enameled category, and was a featured artist in the June 2009 article "Unexpected Enamel" in Lapidary Journal--Jewelry Artist.

More Volunteers to Spotlight | |
In February SNAG launched a special area on the website to show our appreciation for the people who volunteer for SNAG. Through Volunteer Spotlight, we focus on our volunteers as artists in the field, in SNAG News and on our website. The second Volunteer Spotlight is now up, showcasing Adrienne Grafton, Robert Thomas Mullen, and Kerianne Quick, with many more to follow in the coming months.
