Happy holidays we hope your holiday season is as blessed and magnificent as ours is here at AZ Pest. During this time of the year when the weather is getting colder by the day, your home is very attractive to many little creatures. The warmth and comfort of your home is quite the catalyst when it comes to pests trying to gain access into your home. Many insects and rodents more specifically find the warmth of your cozy home a great stomping ground. In this issue we will focus on the prevention and signs to look for when it comes to keeping pesky rodents out of your life and home.
Keep those Critters Out!
When it comes to gaining access to your home during the winter no one is more successful then the common house mouse. Only needing ¼ of an inch to gain access into the warmth of your home they make for a great home wrecker. They can jump up to 12 inches high, and jump down from structures as tall as eight feet. These creatures that can easily make their way into your home should not be taken lightly as the major health risks associated with them include salmonella and leptospirosis. In order to make sure you and your family are safe from mice this winter season follow these simple steps to success!
Seal all entry holes with cloth, sheet metal, or metal wool. Remember, if you can stick a pencil in the entry point then you are not safe.
Don't store pet foods and other food products in easily accessible locations. i.e.; Garages
Eliminate any water sources available to mice.
Place traps in locations you suspect activity.
When these techniques fail it indicates you have more than a slight problem and you should immediately call us. The female mouse will wean 30-35 mice a year which means their populations build very rapidly. When it comes to the treatment of mice we take different approaches in protecting your home depending on the situation. We will occasionally use such products as glue traps, snap traps, and bait boxes. All of which are inaccessible to pets and children of course. We will also use liquid products which are very attractive to populations with limited water sources. If you suspect you might have an infestation, or would simply like a professionals advice on the matter please don't hesitate one second to contact us!
Sincerely,
