At the City Council meeting tonight, Tuesday 9/18/12, Police Chief Jordan will be giving a report on OPD strategies to reduce crime throughout the city. His item will probably be called sometime between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. You can watch it on Cable TV Channel 10.
This report comes in response to the many questions from the public and Council as to what the Police Department's plan is for both the violent crime that continues to plague the citiy as well as the increasing property crimes.
If you want to attend the City Council meeting in person, you can speak as a member of the public for one or two minutes. The Item # is S-11. You need to sign up on a speaker card before the item is called, or you can sign up online at the City Clerk's section in the City website.
The Chief's report is also available in written form online. The written report is more detailed than what he is likely to cover in his spoken presentation. I don't know a way to link directly to the report, but you can search for it on the http://www.oaklandnet.com by going to City Council, clicking on agendas, finding the City Council meeting of 9/18/12 and going to Item S-11 or click here for the PDF file.
