Potholes are among the problems my Council office hears about most often, particularly at the end of the rainy season. The Public Works Agency has started a "pothole blitz" now that the rainy season is behind us. PWA is doing work in Central Oakland this week, all of my Council District except for Chinatown whose time will come soon. If you want to make sure that a particular pot hole gets patched, please report it today or tomorrow in one of the following three ways. You must provide the nearest street address or business location in order for Public Works to take action.

  1. E-mail Public Works at pwacallcenter@oaklandnet.com (please cc our office via jkarchmer@oaklandnet.com).
  2. Go to "Report a Problem" at www.OaklandPW.com (upper right hand side) and fill out the online form
  3. Call the Public Works Call Center at (510) 615-5566

The week-long pothole blitz in Central Oakland got started on May 3 and will continue throughout the week. An estimated 479 potholes already have been patched in East Oakland.  The overall goal is to fix more than 1,000 potholes in the city requiring doubling up on the number of staff assigned to the much needed work.

The Public Works Agency would appreciate your driving slowly where crews are working on the roadways.
