Thanksgiving, a time for giving Thanks
"My presence will go with you. I'll see the journey to the end." (Ex 33:14 -TM)
Entering the holiday season in these 'uncertain' times, we who've put our trust in God have something amazing for which to be truly thankful; The God of all Creation...has been right there with us in our pilgrimage, and will continue to be with us to the journey's end.
"He Himself has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.' So we may boldly say: The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?" (Hebrews 13:5b-6 -NKJV)
That's a bold statement, but it has every reason to be. Here are just a few titles to whom 'He' is referring:
"Jesus, Mighty God, Wisdom, Deliverer, Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Word of Life, Advocate, Provider, The Great I Am, Helper, Savior, Prince of Peace, Wonderful Counselor, Lamb of God, Lord of Hosts, Root of David, Author and Finisher of Our Faith, The Way, Healer, Son of God, The Truth, Chief Cornerstone, King of Kings, Helper, Light of the World, Chief Shepherd, My Strength and Song, Righteous Judge, Son of Righteousness, Resurrection and Life, The Alpha and Omega."
Above all though, He's a loving Father, of whom I'm certain we can all recall many good things He's done for us throughout our journey thus far and, He has a glorious eternity planned for us, beyond anything we can ask or think or imagine at the journey's end!
"... You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me by Your counsel,
and afterward receive me to glory." (Psalm 73:23-24 -NKJV)
Yes, in this season of "thanks-giving", let us sincerely thank God and praise Him for His awesome presence.
But far above all else, let us be thankful for the unfathomable mercy (Hebrew-Chesed; 'His unfailing, steadfast covenant love') that He poured out for all of fallen mankind through His beloved Son, Jesus. God on a cross, bleeding and dying to save us from an eternal inferno called hell. Now our victorious risen resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ is the eternal hope of all who will simply believe.
The Thanksgiving Season should come more often, for it truly is a time for much deserved "Thanks-Giving", to our family and friends, and especially to our Heavenly Father. Luke 1:37
