'SEEDS' - 'NEEDS' and TREASURES!

"Give, and you will receive. Your gift will
return to you in full, pressed down, shaken
together to make room for more, running
over, and poured into your lap. The amount
you give will determine the amount you get
back." (Luke 6:38 NLT)
As the harvest season approaches God
has 'stirred my nest', reminding me that He
can and will multiply the 'loaves and fishes'
but only as they are placed in His hand - that
mighty oaks grow from tiny acorns, and can
multiply into mighty forests - but only if the
acorn is first planted.
I was also reminded that the fruits of
one's harvests will always bear 'seed', and
while most is meant for consumption in one
way or another, the massive reproduction-
miracle within those 'seeds' lies dormant
unless a portion of it is turned back into
the 'soil' from which it grew.
Just as the earth cannot respond to
man's hunger or 'need' when recognized and
spontaneously produce a fruitful harvest,
likewise, the 'soil' of the spiritual realm cannot
respond either; in both realms, 'seed' must
first be planted.
One must also affect wisdom in
recognizing the 'need' before it becomes one,
and apply diligence in seed planting for a
harvest before it arrives. "Behold, the days
are coming, says the Lord, that the plowman
shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of
grapes him who sows the seed" (Amos
9:13 -AMP)
Diligent 'seed' planting bears diligent
harvests; Obedience today - provision
tomorrow. In other words,
today's 'seeds',
for tomorrow's 'needs'. One can't wait
until
facing starvation, plant a kernel of corn, then
jump back, expecting a 12 foot stalk of
green foliage with multiple ears of kernel
laden corn hanging all over it to pop up out of
the ground, or plant an apple seed one
morning and expect to see an orchard full of
fruit bearing trees before sundown.
Perpetual Harvests
As we walk in obedience with Him in
diligent planting, receiving and giving, just
as surely as perpetual 'seed planting' will
result in perpetual harvests, we will find
ourselves in the center of His will and supply
for each new day.
"Oh, the joys of those who are kind to
the poor! The LORD rescues them when
they are in trouble. The LORD protects them
and keeps them alive. He gives them
prosperity in the land and rescues them from
their enemies." (Ps 41:1-2 -NLT)
Treasures - Out of this World!
"Store up for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy,
and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart
will be also." (Matt 6:19 - 2 - NIV)
Jesus talks here about two kinds of
riches:
1. Riches on earth that can be stolen or
suffer decay and, inevitably someday, be left
behind with a degree of uncertainty as to how
they will be used, or possibly even
misused.
2. Riches in Heaven that reap eternal
dividends-forever.
He told us to keep our focus on the latter
and to order our lives in a way that will enable
us to store up those eternal treasures.
As portions of our earthly harvests are
given to God's work on earth, they are also
invested into the 'soil' of the spiritual realm. In
effect, we are not only helping to meet
the 'need' of the desperate, lost and hurting in
this world, we are also laying up treasures
in Heaven which will reap dividends
throughout eternity. How about that for an
abundant return on investment!
These greater riches far surpass
anything that the human mind can
comprehend, and are the ultimate reward for
those who humbly fear and revere God -
faithfully serving Him and sharing His Gospel
in the areas of both, living and giving.
"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor
have entered into the heart of man the things
which God has prepared for those who love
Him." (1 Cor 2:9 -NKJV)
Author's Note:
As a young boy of 14, God gave me a
vision for a ministry in Africa. Many years
have passed, but that vision is now becoming
a reality. JSMI is currently establishing the
Grace Christian Mission Hospital, a multi-
functional medical and educational complex
near the center of Kenya. This African nation
is the size of Texas with a population of
approximately 32 million, of which most are
suffering the deadly effects of AIDS (and its
consequential horrific orphan influx), Malaria,
extreme poverty, etc.
