Have a Blessed 4th of July!
May God continue to bless America, as
we continue to honor and serve Him.
"He is able to do immeasurably more
than all we ask or imagine, according to His
power that is at work within us, to Him be
glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
throughout all generations, for ever and ever!
Amen." (Eph. 3:20-21)

Here Puppy!

by Jack Shaw
"The thief comes only in order to steal
and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and
enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it
overflows)."
(John 10:10 --AMP)
Imagine setting in your living room
entertaining
friends when, suddenly--a large, red eyed,
flea
infested, German Shepherd emerges from
the
bedroom hallway, fangs bared, crouching,
growling, frothing-at-the-mouth, heading
straight for
you.
Now, if this actually happened, you
wouldn't
say, "Here puppy!" (Then calmly turning to
your
friends) "How do you like my new pet?",
would you?
No! You'd jump up and grab the broom,
the kid's
baseball bat, a shot gun if necessary and
chase that ill
intended unwelcome intruder out of your
house.
Sadly that scenario is often bitter reality
in the
spiritual realm. We're moving along with our
lives
quite well when suddenly out of nowhere an
unwelcome trespasser suddenly appears
threatening
us with one of many forms: Fear, Despair,
Financial
problems, Defiant children, Marriage
problems,
Illness, etc.
Just as the intruder in the scenario
above likely
entered through a door or window that was
left open in
the spiritual realm that 'open door'
or 'window' might
be the absence (or even the slacking off) of
our prayer
life, our Bible reading and study of the
Word. Still it
could be the result of some form of sin in our
lives that
is allowed to go unchecked or unconfessed,
and
therefore unforgiven.
God tells us in His word that His desire
for us is
that we be free of evil and menacing
intrusion into our
lives. His idea of the greatest miracle is
simply to not
need a miracle. Remember, He sent His
only Son,
Jesus--"that (we) may have and enjoy
life, and
have it in abundance (to the full, till it
overflows)".

Seek Quiet Time with God!

But He doesn't just hand that desirable state
of life to
us. To attain it, I believe, our first priority
should be to
set aside quiet time (both quality and
quantity) to be
alone with God each day--reporting to Him
for duty,
and learning to better know and trust Him
and His love
and purposeful guidance through fellowship
with Him
in His word and in prayer.
As we do so, even if an unwelcome
intruder
should somehow find its way into
our 'house', we will
be equipped to cast it out---as in the
scenario above.
Not with a broom or bat, or--even a shotgun,
of
course, but with the mighty arsenal of
spiritual
weaponry with which our Father equips us
as we daily
show up at His feet and invest time in
intimate
fellowship with Him.
"A final word: Be strong in the Lord
and in his
mighty power. Put on all of God's armor so
that you
will be able to stand firm against all
strategies of the
devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-
and-blood
enemies, but against evil rulers and
authorities of the
unseen world, against mighty powers in this
dark
world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly
places."
Therefore, put on every piece of
God's armor so
you will be able to resist the enemy in the
time of evil.
Then after the battle you will still be standing
firm.
Stand your ground, putting on the belt of
truth and the
body armor of God's righteousness. For
shoes, put on
the peace that comes from the Good News
so that you
will be fully prepared. In addition to all of
these, hold
up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows
of the
devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and
take the
sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Pray in
the Spirit at all times and on every occasion.
Stay alert
and be persistent in your prayers for all
believers
everywhere." (Eph 6:10-18 --NLT)
