Personal Message from Jack
"The Lord will show the nations of the world the
justice; all will praise him, His righteousness shall be
like a budding tree, or like a garden in early
spring, full of young plants springing
up everywhere." (Isaiah 61:11)
As Christians, we seek the renewal of God's spirit
around the world through His Son Jesus. In Kenya,
the Dalton family, JSMI's missionaries, are helping to
renew spirits and meet the medical needs of the
Kenyan people.
"That thy way may be known upon earth,
Thy saving health among all nations." (Ps 67:2)
One of our ministry's missions is the completion
of the Grace Christian Mission Hospital in Nakuru,
Kenya. We believe that this facility will have a
positive impact on the spiritual and physical health of
the Kenyan people.
REMEMBERING THE IRISH
"Love to Christ is proved by doing the things,
which He commands, and not merely saying, 'Lord,
Lord.'"
C. H. Mackintosh (1820-1896) Irish preacher and Bible
expositor
"If ye love me, keep my commandments." (John
14:15)
"For this is the love of God, that we keep his
commandments: and his commandments are not
grievous." (1 John 5:3)

50 Yards from the Castle
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and
perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him
endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down
at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him
who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that
you will not grow weary and lose heart.” (Heb 12:2-3)
If the spiritual path we’re traveling today is smooth,
unhindered, with birds singing and blue skies
overhead, we’re probably on the wrong road.
T D Jakes once said, “If you want to avoid trouble,
avoid God.” This may sound strange to most, but we
might as well count on it; if we’re pursuing God’s
destiny for our lives, ‘trouble’ will be part of the mix. As
unlikely as it may seem, adversity and opposition will
invariably confront us on the path of faithfulness.
This truth is found in the lives of Abraham, Joseph,
Moses, Joshua, David, the three Hebrew children,
Daniel, John and Paul, to name just a few.
Jesus himself, as He began His earthly ministry,
was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
The temptations, however, served only to better
equip Jesus with strength and wisdom for the
journey ahead. This should be the case in our lives
as well, as we experience difficulties.

Missionary's Notebook!

Hello from Kenya -- Our daughter Christine is
working at the CURE in Mbale, Uganda. This
facility treats children with birth defects such as
hydrocephalus, spina bifida, epilepsy, and brain
tumors. Christine is helping to care for the children.
She is receiving hands-on experience and helping to
meet the children's many needs.
I also worked at the CURE facility for two days,
repairing 22 pieces of equipment, including the CT. I
didn't have much contact with the patients, but I did
see many of them. God loves these little children as
much as He loves you and me. I'm glad to have
contributed to the facility’s ability to help them. I met
with Dr. Charles Howard, the Executive Director, and
discussed the GCMH project with him. He said that
since 60% of the conditions that they treat at Mbale are
preventable, our focus on Prenatal and Antenatal care
will have a direct positive impact on the prevention of
birth defects in our area.
Little Brenda could have been born "normal" if her
mother had good prenatal care and education.
Shirley, Matt, Mandy, and I are taking Kiswahili
lessons so we can communicate more effectively.
Christine is not taking the lessons, since she is in
Uganda. Some Kenyan's speak a little English, but
communication is difficult. -- Fred Dalton
Hello from Uganda -- I sent a photo of six-year
old Brenda. She is the first born of an African woman.
She has a sickness called hydrocephalus, which is
when one of the cavities in the head gets blocked
causing the head to fill with fluid. Whenever a child is
born in this condition, it is considered a curse from
their god. The parents try to starve the child to death,
or just kill it immediately. Some husbands disown
their wives if a child is born in this condition prompting
some mothers to kill the baby and hide it in the river at
night. They believe that no one could love a child like
this. Brenda’s mother kept her because she thought
Brenda’s head would shrink. It never did. Brenda is
suffering from starvation and dehydration. The doctors
say that she should recover, if there is no major
infection. She is already doing a little bit better. --
